Firstly it's a better reflection of the services we offer. We're a full service web and graphic design studio offering a broad range of creative and marketing services. Often when speaking with new and existing clients we'd be asked, "hey, can you improve and design our marketing diagrams" or "can you produce some PDF case studies" etc etc. By having Web in the company name, I realised we weren't communicating our full suite of capabilities.
I love the .ie domain suffix. It instantly lets our local market know that we're Irish and gives us a geographic relevance. However, most of our work is actually international. We've clients across the UK, Europe, US and the Middle East. Obviously the web is a global platform and clients are much more comfortable today working with suppliers across the globe.
On a personal level, I spend a lot of time in both Ireland and the UK so again, I didn't want a domain suffix that tied us to a particular region.
